French film 'Le Roi Et L'Oiseau' is one of the world's best animation film. Nobody can doubt this film's sheer brilliance as well as its artistic greatness as not one but three geniuses lent artistic support towards its making. It is based on the Danish short story 'Hyrdinden Og Skorstensfejeren'/The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep written by Hans Christian Andersen for which director Paul Grimault worked closely for many years with creative partner and maverick French poet friend Jacques Pr‚vert. His only wish was to see this immortal tale transformed into a phenomenal animation film. In recent years, many animation directors including Japanese masters have acknowledged the influence of this masterpiece on their works. The greatness as well as the popularity of this film is immense. This is one valid reason why 'Le Roi Et L'Oiseau' continues to be one of the important elements of French culture. It is believed that it is so important for people from all walks of life that its viewing ought to be made compulsory for people learning French language. 'The king and the mocking bird' can be construed as a film for children but it can also be appreciated by adults. The production values are high for this film and its message of the victory of good over evil needs to be understood by many viewers. Based in Delhi's Chandni Chowk, orphaned Sidhu is adopted by the owner of Bajrang Bali Parathas, known simply as Dada. Years later Sidhu has grown up and is an expert at slicing vegetables. When his Chinese friend and Philosopher, Chopstick, cons him into believing that he is the reincarnation of Liu Sheung, a slain Chinese revolutionary, Sidhu takes it upon himself to travel to the Zhange district where he will be forced to confront a deadly female assassin by the name of Suzy; be befriended by a semi-crazed beggar; and must face humiliation and possible death at the hands of the virtually indestructible Hojo. Chandni Chowk to China Critics
Its way past the box office time, so this review is for buying DVD and watching it on TV. Okay everyone, people say this film was bad but my friend said it wasn't. I didn't listen to her and didn't watch the film, but realized my mistake after watching it on TV. I don't need to type the synopsis, I'll just write my opinion to it. Here's what my point of view says:- Their work - FIRST Indian martial arts film. I say it was well presented and a fresh idea. They shoot in China, used REAL Chinese (not stupid fake characters like in some movies) and good actors. Very impressive action scenes. Story idea - As said, fresh idea. I really liked the theme. The reason why this film have flopped might be that the story is not very new and some things aren't too. BUT the only overused Martial arts theme typically are of some cop who fights a drug dealer or gangster as revenge for his family or something, this is similar too but not completely. Slapstick comedies, some hard parts and few might look meaningless, but as long its entertainment. But do blend together well and is fine as long you cut stupid things. Acting - Akshay is good and maintains his comedy like always. I really liked Deepika in this film. She has a double roll (not a spoiler), and I personally liked the 2nd character she played. There's Ranvir Shorey who's fine and some unknown Chinese actors who're actually good. Music - Minimal songs but catchy enough. Songs "From Chandi Chowk to China", "Tere Naina", "Sidhu theme" and "Fatte Chak Lende" are energetic and probably the only used songs and have good timings. Direction - I don't know this director, but I don't find him bad. I don't why this film completely flopped. If 'Dhamaal' was a hit, then I supposed it to be at least an average grosser. Verdict - 6 out of 10. Why? Because this isn't a serious film and 7+ ratings are for really meaningful ones. 6 is just fine and its good. My opinion - I have seen this film like 5-6 times on TV and I always think what was that bad. If you're a fan of Akshay, Deepika, Martial Arts or just want a time-pass film, this is good for Home Video or even watching on internet. But AT LEAST watchable.

I liked this movie pretty good, but as it is the movies seem to be getting weaker. I liked the snow one the best, the stone one and this one last. The main problem stems in the form of very weak fight scenes. The bad guys in this one are very underdeveloped and I still do not get the point of the wigs. There is a bit to much sentimental stuff going on to as they did some best friends forever pinkie thing way to many times for my liking. Still, it had some good humor and the characters were their usual selves. I am disappointed also by the fact Rock Lee is in the movie, but he just does not seem to play a really big role in the story. He just seems there for the most part, though I liked his end fight the best. The story has our gang of Naruto, Sakura, Lee, and Kakshi guarding a prince and his son. For first part of the film it is basically just Naruto and the prince's son getting to know each other and come to understand each other. The only real action comes in the form of a ship they are traveling on being hit by a storm. Then they arrive at their destination only to discover the king has been overthrown and mysterious shin-obi are working with the councilman who took over. Well you have a clash and the prince gets captured and Naruto and gang have to go to the rescue. So that is basically it, like I said improve the fights a bit, make Lee a bit more important to the plot, and develop the bad guys and this one could have been as good as snow as it is though it was still fun to watch.

My kids, who are great Monty Python fans found this movie at the library. Thinking that I knew about all the successful Monty Python related movies I figured that this movie must have been a sleeper. I was greatly surprised by the movie. In my opinion this movie was much better than Time Bandits. Time Bandits was weak mainly because of the weak (or non-existent) ending. This movie had a much better conclusion. Plus, this movie also had a very strong thread running through the movie, without hitting you over the head with it. I also enjoyed the literary references and Robin Williams as the king of the Moon. My favorite reference was when Venus came out of the giant clam. It reminded me of Kilgore Trout's "Venus on the Half Shell." (Kurt Vonegut). That was a very nice touch.

Lord of the Flies Critics
I read the book when I was a kid, and I found it to be very disturbing. I didn't really care to think why. Watching this movie as a grown up (especially as a grown up trying to think about anything BUT work) made me ponder several things about human behavior. For instance, what makes one person lead and another follow? Why is there almost always just 2 prominent sides to a situation, even though there are people involved whose opinions may be of varying shades of gray? Isn't it strange that once you commit an act of taboo, that it just makes it so much easier to do the next time? Why is an act that is morally reprehensible to perform individually, become so much easier when it is done in group? Where does one's individualism go when "mob rule" prevails ? I think the movie did a good job of bringing out the "beast", but it didn't surpass my initial impression from reading the book. The acting was commendable, given the age and experience of the actors, and the classic novel they were trying to portray. Ralph was just superb, trying to lead with "reason", but watching his leadership ebb to a much more terrifying alter ego. The relentlessness and inevitability of his fate was captured in all its horror when he is told "They're going to hurt you, Ralph". Its hard to write a review about just the movie, when the story itself (as told in the book) is what makes the biggest impression. The movie is rich in metaphors - innocence lost, war, society in general, right and wrong, etc. In closing, I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for fear, but not of the sensational variety that 'horror movies' are generally associated with. Its a black and white movie, made in the 60's, and stars a bunch of scrawny kids. The fear is what you have to not watch - but live.

Ami is a typical college girl. This film is filled with violence and gore, severed heads and limbs. So, why am I recommending it? Its fun to watch despite all that. The core of the plot is good. Ami, played by the pretty Minase Yashiro, avenges the murder of her younger brother Yu at the hands of a group of sadistic young people who are part of the Kimora clan. Ami's arm is hacked off in her first attempt to kill the son who caused Yu's death, but she manages to escape and is taken in by Miki, whose son Takeshi was also killed by the gang with Yu. It is Takeshi's mother Miki who goes along with Ami on this mission. If you don't like blood and gore, you can't watch this film. I normally do not like it, but this movie moves along at a good pace and Minase Yashiro actually does a good job as Ami. So, if you can handle buckets of blood, I think you'll enjoy it.

Perhaps that is why the film is a work of transition It has a delicious soundtrack for the maestro Lalo Schifrin that help at any time the narrative rhythm of the tape. We should also emphasize the good work as secondary to Lee J. Cobb giving life to the serious and quiet "lieutenant McElroy", and Susan Clark. It is not the best film of the five that both agreed but if served to the beginning of a great time to develop during the 1970 with "Harry the dirty" as a success and with the police cinema in the height of its history.

Review: I really tried my utmost to understand what the hell was going on in this movie but the director kept on introducing new characters who belonged to different clans. On top of that, the characters kept on throwing up all these different names so it was hard to work out who was who. On the plus side, the production looked impressive and you could tell that there was quite a bit of money spent on some of the scenes, but I couldn't take the flying on strings, action scenes along with the crazy sword fights which went way over the top. Personally, I might have enjoyed it more if I knew what was going on, but I found it way to confusing and I lost the plot near the beginning. Disappointing! Round-Up: Jet Li is quite an impressive actor because he does his own stunts and he has an unique fast fighting style, but his performances aren't that emotional and some of his choice of films are really strange. He isn't in the same category as Jackie Chan because of his earlier contribution to Asian cinema, but there yet to find someone with the charisma and martial arts skills like Bruce Lee. I suppose it's like people like Bob Marley who really can't me imitated. Anyway, I really did have high hopes for this film, but I got totally let down because of the confusing storyline and unrealistic action scenes. Budget: $35million Worldwide Gross: $100million I recommend this movie to people who are into their Jet Li movies about a clan, fighting against evil doers to save some hidden treasure from getting in the wrong hands. 2/10

Set in medieval times in Europe somewhere, "Seventh Son" brings us back to a time when supernatural beings like witches, ghosts, ghasts and the like wreak terror on the countryside. The people depend on a special knight called the "Spook" to fight these creatures and restore peace. Master Gregory is the last spook and he is getting on in age. In his last big fight with the grand witch Mother Malkin, he lost his latest apprentice Billy. Gregory searches for another "seventh son of a seventh son" to take his place. His quest leads him to the farm of the Wards. As the young impulsive Tom heeds the Spook's call, will he be up to the task of becoming the new Spook before Mother Malkin fully regains her powers by the night of the blood moon? Or will Tom's falling for the charms of pretty Alice distract him from his destiny? Cut down to its basic storyline, you would see a very common basic plot in many an adventure film: an old master training an heir-apparent to his position. This film takes that plot and brings into it fantastic monsters in action and teenage romance in bloom. Ben Barnes plays Tom Ward. Barnes first gained attention as Prince Caspian in the Narnia films, though his career did not really fly too much. He takes another stab at stardom with yet another action fantasy with this one. Already a adult man, Barnes seemed too old for the character he is supposed to play. Anyhow, he still has a youthful mien to pull it off. I think he was cast so that a romance angle can be developed as well. Jeff Bridges plays Master Gregory. He is at his hammy best here and he looks like he had a good time filming this. In fact, Bridges felt like he just reprised his role in last year's "RIPD", where he was a senior ghost policeman training a new recruit. Bridges had some witty ripostes which added the requisite humor to the proceedings. Julianne Moore goes all campy playing Mother Malkin with evil relish and glee. She gets to wear more witchy-chic than Maleficent and she seemed to be having a field day with this over-the-top character, much unlike the more serious and quiet ones she is more known for. In addition, she and her coven of powerful witches (played by Antje Traue, Djimon Hounsou, Jason Scott Lee, among others) get to transform into dragons and similarly fantastic beasts, thanks to neat and nifty computer- generated special effects. This film is based on the young adult novel "The Spook's Apprentice" written by Joseph Delaney. Unlike the atmospheric creepy book it was based on, the film is makes it more of an action fantasy for cinematic verve. Tom and Alice in the book are both pre-teens. The witch characters did not fit their descriptions in the book as well. They did not turn into animals, for one. In fact, one of the side characters, the deformed humanoid Tusk, even shifts over from evil in the book to good in the film. The visual effects were hit and miss, some (like the creature transformations) were impressive and seamless, but some (like the conflagrations) looked old-fashioned and garishly fake. Book fans may be disappointed by the major deviations from the original tale. Those who are unfamiliar with the book though will be entertained, but will definitely feel that the story being told by director Sergey Bodrov follows a tired and very familiar formula. 6/10.

First off- I have a lot of respect for the resident evil games,I know they are at least solid enough to warrant several sequel games. I also know there is one or two good guys, a whack of zombies and usually a decked out uber badass boss character. I don't know much more, and for that reason, this movie really didn't do much for me. There were too many moments throughout where some random guy/girl would show up, that im sure any resident evil fan would freak out at- but i just had no clue what the significance was. copious references that went over my head that one of the gamers would catch...made me basically feel out of the loop on this one. I think I felt like one of my firends I've forced to watch advent children with no knowledge of Final Fantasy 7. there is just too much insider stuff for casual viewers. wooden character animation, and above average vg cutscene style- but a very cool fight at the end, some decent gore kept up the pace. defiantly recommend you check this out if you've played the games, however I would be very wary if your new to the Resident Evil universe, this is likely not the best place to start.

Although this is an old movie, I just saw it on television for the first time. It is a great Saturday afternoon movie to watch with kids. I didn't remember Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Weiss) in any other shows, but he has a very commanding presence on screen. The director really knew how capture his very cherub face with his captivating blond hair and haunting blue eyes.For a while I was just mesmerized watching how he moved throughout the film. I could actually 'see' his maturity and growth as he encountered many antics with his brothers. It was very believable and the theme is definitely something I would encourage my students to evaluate and analyze as their own lives reflect some of the same things these young men experienced. It had action, adventure, love and caring parents -for once! The family structure was secure and I was happy to see that. Our kids see so much violence and family destruction- they need to see something positive. I will definitely add this one to my list of videos my students can watch.

I wasn't super hyped to see this when I first saw the trailer to this in theater but it got me intrigued. Especially how it goes in a direction where a little girl doing action sequences didn't seem lame at all, in fact some sequences was pretty darn cool. They way it reveals what is going on bit by bit was nicely done without giving away exactly and completely what the movie is about in the beginning. Good character driven movie with some good action sequences with a slight artistic cinematography. What is great about this movie is that it isn't just straight forward action movie. Even the soundtrack doesn't have the typical generic action movie style soundtrack, in fact the soundtrack is great. The masses might find this movie to be a bit awkward because it doesn't have the generic action movie feel to it. The plot isn't spectacular but somewhat absorbing. Saoirse Ronan was sometimes mesmerizing with her acting and I buy into her situation in the movie while she was playing Hanna and I wouldn't be shocked if there is a bright future for her in the acting business. However if your one of those audiences that is expecting constant action might be left disappointed. But when it comes to action it shows that you don't need a lot of CGI to make some cool action sequences. And the movie might be a bit slow at times, especially in the middle but overall it's a character driven movie with action in it that is worth seeing. It's a simple story but has just enough substance. 7.8/10

For 1975 this children's classic is absolutely magnificent. Beautifully cast - masterful songs - brilliant color and scenery. Disney couldn't have produced a more memorable, masterful musical than this one. Mickey Rooney gives a fine, stunning performance as the comical, drunken 'Lampie' and is alloted full use of his veteran musical talents in 'I saw a dragon' - tripping about the saloon after a chance encounter with "Elliott". Helen Reddy is dandy as 'Nora', the unmarried daughter. And Jim Dale and Red Buttons are at their comical genius best as 'Dr. Terminus' and 'Hoagie' - especially in their performance of 'Every Little Piece', which I countered in connection with an off-Broadway musical style quality - of which the song could also garner a Tony. The Gogan's - I felt, almost stole the show - next to Elliott-the dragon. Their memorable hillbilly opener "happiest home in these hills" was brilliantly choreographed & performed. And actor Conaway is still remembered all these years later (outside 'Kenicki' in GREASE) as one of the bumbling, hillbilly brothers. I proudly own my own DVD copy, the org. vinyl, and my new CD. Sadly, Disney doesn't produce high-quality action-animation like this classic much more these days. Which makes appreciating this film as a work of art. PEANUT

A number of fighters are invited to DOA, an invitational martial arts contest. They travel to the tournament island by plane, until they have to jump out mid-flight with parachutes, and then have until sundown to reach the main island to be entered into the tournament. Fighters are then pooled against one another in a knock-out style tournament, with the loser of a battle sent home, and the winner progressing to the subsequent round. DOA: Dead or Alive Critics
This film ain't pushing the girl power formula it's just a group of fighters whose main protagonists are mostly women. DOA is quite good and i might think to see it again, I like everybody in the film my comment is that they have to trim down the comic elements i think it was too much especially Christie's partner he's quite annoying. I expected it to be a charlie's angels film but it's not. DOA is one of those films you'd like to see if you are into popcorn films, and the fight choreography is worth the price of the ticket they actually applied the moves of the characters on the video game. It makes me wanna play the video game when after seeing it!

Dhoom 3 the third installment in the Dhoom franchise.The movie which released near Christmas, is the first bollywood movie in imax format.Not only the movie became a superhit in India and overseas market but it became 75th highest grossing movie worldwide of 2013.Coming to the movie cast and crew part, all the credit goes to Aamir Khan for the immense success of the movie.Khan who is an accomplished method actor and have several innovative work and movies to his credit did a, dual role .As Sahir the swashbuckling ,charismatic circus performer cum owner.Samar who wants to avenge his father's by robbing the Chicago Bank.Unknown to the world, he has skeleton in the closet.Aamir plays the anti-hero the same kind of role his predecessors (Joh& Hrithik) played but with his own panache.Aamir did an incredible job as Samar the dim witted auti otis dentical twin brother who is naive and eventually falls in love with Alia(Katrina Kaif).His presence added weight to the screen. The director VK Acharya , who made Tashan a few years ago with Yash Raj Films has a slightly similar plot related to avenging the father's death story in both the films.Apparently, the movie took inspiration from Hollywood movies The Prestige & Now you see me.What Acharya showed in this movie is the emotional side & family background of the anti-hero unlike in Dhoom1 & 2(may be because those films were directly by Sanjay Gadhvi). The anti-hero is generally the crowd puller in Dhoom movies.The other cast includes Abhishek Bacchan ,Uday Chopra,Katrina Kaif,Tabret Bethell and others including Jackie Shroff in a cameo. Bachchan Jr. 's character Acp Jai Dixit is devalauting in every Dhoom movie , apparently he is overshadowed by the anti- heroes of his Dhoom films.Uday Chopra's Ali is worse and more absurd than Jai.Acting as Jai's sidekick and providing comic relief, Uday chopra is an example of how survival in bollywood is possible if you have a family background does not matter how terrible actor you are.Katrina Kaif and Tabrett Bethell are eye candies with nothing much to do.Kaif's stunning performance in the item song Kamli is laudable.Other songs like Malang and Tu hi junoon are soothing.The stunts are illogical its better to watch such stunts leaving brains at home. Couple of things could have been done by the producers like releasing Dhoom 3 in 3D format and an item song for the ravishing blonde Tabrett Bethell.In a nutshell, Dhoom 3 ' s success credits to the star power of the perfectionists Aamir Khan.
